Douglas Green is a writer, psychotherapist, director, and teacher, living in Los Angeles. He was born and raised in Kansas City and moved to Connecticut for college and Australia for five years of working on film crews.
After attending the University of Southern California, Green wrote and directed for television, stage, and film, including The Hiding Place with Kim Hunter and Timothy Bottoms. He then changed careers to become a successful psychotherapist, specializing in work with children and teenagers.
He is the author of the acclaimed book The Teachings of Shirelle: Life Lessons from a Divine Knucklehead, detailing the wisdom he learned – psychological, philosophical, and spiritual – from his ridiculous mutt. He also created and runs the website AskShirelle.com, giving advice based on the lessons of the book.
A Dog of Many Names is his first novel.
